My 4-hour and 8-hour continuing education workshops are titled Understanding Stress, Hypnosis, and the Use of Self-Hypnosis for Stress Management and Learn Hypnosis and Understand How Hypnotherapy Can Benefit Your Clients and Grow Your Practice, have been taught to Psychologists, MFT’s, and LCSW’s throughout California.

These workshops have been offered through the Association for Advanced Training in the Behavioral Sciences (AATBS), Psycho-Legal Associates, the Association for Humanistic Psychology, and the Department of Educational Psychology at California State University Northridge.

Each workshop is designed to provide those in attendance with the training necessary to be able to hypnotize clients with ease.  Attendees learn the fundamentals of one-on-one hypnosis, while also participating in self-hypnosis and group hypnosis exercises.  Each participant receives either an 84-page or 126-page training manual depending on the workshop.

My workshops include an array of demonstrations and exercises enlisting both observation and participation.  Each workshop also explores hypnosis in terms of its history, its presence in the media, the myths that surround its application, and its efficacy in both therapy and medicine.

Instruction Objectives:

  • Communicate information about how those in attendance can request medical and dental referrals as a way of expanding their practice, while simultaneously creating a referral network;
  • Develop an understanding about the public’s many misconceptions concerning hypnosis;
  • Define and quantify hypnosis;
  • Explain the concept of suggestibility;
  • Conduct demonstrations of finger spreading, arm raising, maternal and paternal hypnotic inductions, reactional hypnosis, shock induction, the initial hypnotherapy session, and group hypnosis;
  • Teach self-hypnosis;
  • Oversee a practicum exercise involving dyad teams practicing hypnotic inductions using provided narrative scripts, and much more.

Practicum Workshop:

The practicum workshop consists of a supervised practice of hypnotic induction skills by all attendees working in dyad teams.  Activities are conducted using several written scripts and visualization exercises.  The workshop will also include learning self-hypnosis, practicing self-hypnosis, and group hypnosis.

Note: Certain of the afternoon session demonstrations or topics may be integrated into the morning session to increase the time allocated to practicum workshop activities.
